Man Arrested After Hours-Long Domestic Disturbance Standoff in Cross Lake Township

Cross Lake Township, Maine
A Cross Lake Township man was arrested Thursday following a reported domestic disturbance that led to an hours-long standoff, according to the Maine State Police.
Police said that at approximately 7:46 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, troopers responded to a residence in Cross Lake Township after a woman reported her boyfriend was making threats and damaging property. Officials stated the woman left the residence before troopers arrived.
When troopers got to the scene, they determined the man involved—Nicolas Dionne, 37, of Cross Lake Township—remained inside the home and was refusing to come out. The Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated and responded.
After several hours of communication, police said Dionne exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident at approximately 8:00 p.m.
Dionne was charged with Domestic Violence Criminal Threatening, Domestic Violence Terrorizing, and Creating a Police Standoff. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
Maine State Police were assisted at the scene by the North Lakes Fire Department and ASI Ambulance Service.
