An adult man was found dead early Tuesday morning after Brunswick Police responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire at a Valerie Avenue residence.


Police say the resident of the property was taken into custody on charges related to the incident. Authorities have not yet released the identities of either person or specified the charges filed.

Officers Respond to Reported Gunfire


Brunswick Police responded to 5 Valerie Avenue at approximately 12:48 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting gunshots.


Upon arrival, officers located an adult male deceased on the property.


According to authorities, the resident of 5 Valerie Avenue was taken into custody on charges related to the incident and transported to the Cumberland County Jail.


No additional information regarding the charges or circumstances surrounding the man’s death has been released.


Major Crimes Unit Assisting


The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist Brunswick Police with the investigation.


The deceased man was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted to confirm his identity and determine the cause and manner of death.


Authorities said there is no known danger to the public.
