Two People Found With Gunshot Wounds

Lewiston Police received 911 calls at approximately 12:58 a.m. reporting a disturbance and shots fired outside the Blue Goose Tavern at 69 Sabattus Street.

Responding officers located an adult man and an adult woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. The man was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The woman was treated for her injuries and later released.

Major Crimes Unit Joins Investigation

Lewiston Police requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South.

According to State Police, investigators have identified the adult man responsible for firing the shots, and he is cooperating with law enforcement.

Authorities have not released his identity or announced any charges in connection with the shooting.

Autopsy Planned

The deceased man was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will determine the cause and manner of death.

His identity is being withheld pending the autopsy and notification of next of kin.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and say there is no known danger to the public.
