Man Shot at Walpole Jiffy Mart; One Taken Into Custody

WALPOLE, N.H. — Walpole Police are investigating a shooting reported late Wednesday morning at the Jiffy Mart on Main Street in Walpole.

At approximately 10:46 a.m., Walpole Police responded to a report of a shooting at the Jiffy Mart located at 549 Main Street in Walpole, New Hampshire. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the torso.

A preliminary investigation indicates the incident involved two adult males who became involved in an altercation that appears to have stemmed from a roadway-related incident. Police said the altercation continued in the parking lot, where a single gunshot was fired.

The injured male was treated at the scene and transported by Walpole EMS to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, New Hampshire, before being transferred to Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Police said one adult male was taken into custody during the course of the investigation.

Walpole Police stated the incident appears to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Jiffy Mart was closed during the on-scene investigation. Walpole Police were assisted by the Bellows Falls Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police.
