The Maine State Police are investigating an unattended death reported Tuesday afternoon in northern Hancock County. According to officials, at approximately 3:32 p.m. on October 28, 2025, Troopers from the Maine State Police Northern Field Troop responded to the 32000 Road in Township 41, off the Stud Mill Road, for a report of a deceased individual.
Upon arrival, Troopers located a male in a bog just off the roadway. The man was later identified as 70-year-old David Bridges of Kennebunk. Preliminary information at the scene indicated Bridges appeared to have been fur trapping in the area.
Authorities said the death does not appear to be suspicious at this time. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. No additional details regarding the timeline of events or contributing factors were released pending the medical examiner’s review.
The Maine Warden Service assisted the Maine State Police during the response and initial investigation at the location in Township 41. Officials did not announce any road closures or hazards associated with the scene, and no other individuals were reported injured.
Further updates are expected following the medical examiner’s findings. The Maine State Police have not released additional information beyond the identification of the deceased and the initial assessment that the death does not appear suspicious.
