Newport Fatal Rollover; Driver Arrested for Aggravated DWI

NEWPORT, N.H. — An adult female was pronounced deceased at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Maple Street Friday afternoon. According to Newport Police, the collision was reported at approximately 3:42 p.m. and involved a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a Jeep Wrangler.
The initial investigation indicates the Silverado was traveling eastbound on Maple Street when it crossed the centerline and struck the westbound Jeep head-on. The Jeep rolled over, resulting in fatal injuries to its driver. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The operator of the Silverado was identified as Dylan Galland, 49, of East Windsor, Connecticut. Officers determined Galland was impaired; he was arrested for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said an additional charge of Negligent Homicide is anticipated, with arraignment expected Monday, December 8, in the 5th Circuit Court – District Division – Newport.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit assisted at the scene. The investigation remains in its early stages.
