LEWISTON, Maine — One person died and several others were injured Saturday after a two-vehicle crash on Lisbon Street that sent a Jeep into a local business, according to Lewiston Police.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a serious crash involving a 2020 Jeep Wrangler and a 1995 Ford F-150. The vehicles were being operated by Ronald Potvin, of Lisbon, and Lawrence Williams, of Minot, respectively.
The initial investigation indicates both vehicles were traveling outbound on Lisbon Street when they collided as a result of an improper lane change. Following the impact, the F-150 struck a utility pole, while the Jeep left the roadway and collided with JD Cuts Hair Salon, located at 1270 Lisbon Street.
Emergency personnel arriving on scene found the driver of the F-150, 70-year-old Lawrence Williams, deceased. Several individuals inside the salon were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. No additional details on patient counts or conditions were released.
Police closed Lisbon Street between Scribner Boulevard and Pleasant Street while crash reconstruction was conducted. The roadway has since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dominic Cloutier at dcloutier@lewistonmaine.gov.
