Pittsfield Man Charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty; $50,000 Bail Set

A Pittsfield animal control investigation led to charges against Cristopher Colson, 24, after a veterinary report stated a dog had been sexually assaulted and was paralyzed.
According to the Pittsfield Police Department, ACO Russel Craft responded on September 18 to Home Town Veterinary in Fairfield for the report, which was said to have occurred in Pittsfield. Craft developed probable cause to charge Colson with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (17-A §1031.1-B.B.A, Class C) and Cruelty to Animals (17-A §1031.1.2, Class D). Colson was taken to the Somerset County Jail, and bail was set at $50,000.
