BRIDGTON, Maine — Bridgton Police said a section of Sam Ingalls Road was temporarily closed Wednesday morning while officers and partner agencies responded to a reported mental health incident involving a threat of self-harm.
According to a release, officers from the Bridgton Police Department responded at approximately 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, to a residence in the area of Sam Ingalls Road. Police said the call involved a reported mental health incident and a threat of self-harm.
Bridgton Police said they were assisted by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Bridgton Fire Department Drone Team. Officials said responders were able to safely investigate the situation, ensure the safety of all involved, and connect involved individuals with appropriate resources and referrals.
During part of the response, a section of Sam Ingalls Road was closed to traffic to allow responders to safely manage the incident, according to police. The department thanked partner agencies for their assistance and the public for its patience and cooperation during the brief road closure.
