Sanford Man Arrested in Connection with December 1st 7-11 Robbery in Springvale

Sanford Police have released new information following last week’s robbery at the 7-Eleven in Springvale. According to the department, detectives have been working since the December 1 incident to review evidence, pursue leads, and identify the person responsible.

On December 7, the Sanford Police Department executed a coordinated operation on Bodwell Street in Sanford. The action involved both a search warrant and an arrest warrant and was carried out with assistance from the Southern Maine Special Response Team. Officials reported that the operation was planned as part of the ongoing investigation into the robbery and was conducted without incident.
During the warrant service, officers took Matthew Sommer, of Sanford, into custody. Police stated that Sommer has been charged with Robbery in connection with the December 1 event. After his arrest, he was transported to the York County Jail, where he is being held on $25,000 bail. No additional charges or suspects have been announced at this time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the robbery and any related activity remains active. Sanford Police have not released further details on the evidence gathered or the specific factors that led detectives to identify Sommer as the suspect.
