Smoke Alarm Triggers Evacuation at Wells Elementary; HVAC Issue Resolved, School Opens On Time

A smoke alarm at Wells Elementary School prompted a safe, orderly evacuation around 7:00 a.m., and an HVAC duct issue was identified and corrected, allowing the school to open on time.

According to the district, Wells Fire Department arrived quickly, conducted a sweep of the building, and determined the alarm was related to an HVAC duct issue that has since been rectified. Staff followed established protocols during the evacuation. The district thanked the Wells Fire Department and Wells Police Department for their quick action.
