NORTHFIELD, Maine — At approximately 9:20 a.m., a Maine Game Warden came upon a three-vehicle collision on Northfield Road (Route 192) and notified the Bangor Regional Communications Center for medical aid and emergency response.
Preliminary information indicates a 16-year-old female from Northfield was driving a Honda Accord northbound and began a left turn into her driveway. A southbound black GMC pickup operated by Perin Yates, 50, of East Machias, collided with the Honda while it was positioned in the southbound lane. The Honda then spun and struck a GMC pickup driven by Aaron Getchell, 43, of Whitneyville, who had been following behind.
Getchell was not injured. Yates and the 16-year-old driver were transported to a local hospital. The 16-year-old is in critical condition but is expected to survive.
The Maine Warden Service, Maine Marine Patrol, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and other emergency agencies assisted. The crash was reconstructed by Maine State Police. The cause remains under investigation.
