Two Residents Rescued in Springvale House Fire on Main Street; Cause Under Investigation

SPRINGVALE, Maine — At approximately 2:30 p.m., Sanford Fire was dispatched to 408 Main St. for smoke and flames reported at a single-family home. Engine 1 from the Springvale station arrived first and found four occupants inside. Two escaped on their own; firefighters rescued two occupants with disabilities from the second floor.

Crews located fire in the attic and worked quickly to extinguish it. All units cleared the scene at 6:00 p.m.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
