BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Brunswick Fire Department responded to two separate structure fires on Friday, December 12, 2025, at locations on Tufton Street and Libby Lane.
According to the department, crews were first dispatched at 12:01 p.m. to 90 Tufton Street in the Bay Bridge Mobile Home Park for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found a mobile home with fire underneath the structure. A subject was under the home attempting to thaw a frozen water line at the time of the incident.
Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire but had to remove a significant amount of insulation to fully put it out. The occupants were not injured. The individual performing the work was evaluated for smoke inhalation but refused transport.
While crews were operating at the Tufton Street fire, a second structure fire was reported at 12 Libby Lane at approximately 12:28 p.m. Mutual aid coverage and mutual aid tankers from the first incident were dispatched to the second location.
First-arriving units at Libby Lane found heavy smoke and fire on the first floor of a two-story residence, with active fire also located in a daylight basement. Firefighters stretched multiple hose lines and conducted an interior attack. The occupants who were home at the time of the fire were able to exit the residence safely.
One firefighter from a mutual aid department was transported to the hospital for a medical issue and was later released from the emergency room. The cause of the fire at 12 Libby Lane was determined to be a chimney fire.
Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Topsham, Bath, West Bath, Freeport, Lisbon, Harpswell, Woolwich, Yarmouth, and Pownal.
