Two-Vehicle Crash Closes Washington Junction Road in Hancock; One Driver Charged

HANCOCK, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating a two-vehicle personal-injury crash that temporarily closed Washington Junction Road at Poplar Lane at approximately 8:49 a.m.
Preliminary information indicates a Kia operated by Katrina Springer, 35, of Ellsworth turned left from Poplar Lane onto Washington Junction Road and collided with a Jeep operated by Amy Richards, 43, of Ellsworth, which was traveling toward Ellsworth.
Springer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Four passengers in the Kia were transported with minor injuries.
Richards was charged with Operating Under the Influence and Operating After Revocation.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Hancock Fire Department, Sullivan Fire Department, and DC Towing assisted. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
