A residence on Ferry Road in Lisbon was destroyed by fire Thursday morning after a neighbor reported smoke and visible flames coming from the home, officials said. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

Fire Department Response



The Lisbon Fire Department responded shortly after the call and was able to quickly extinguish the fire, officials said. Despite the quick knockdown, officials reported the home sustained extensive heat and smoke damage and is considered a total loss.



Fire Marshal Findings



At the request of the Lisbon Fire Department, investigators with the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist with the investigation. Investigators determined the fire originated on a mattress in a bedroom. The cause is believed to be a malfunction of an electric blanket, according to officials.
