DOVER, N.H. — A Tilton man died Friday morning after being struck in an active construction zone on Route 16 in Dover, according to New Hampshire State Police.
State Police said troopers assigned to Troop A and Troop G responded at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, to a crash involving a vehicle and a worker within the work zone.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2020 Ford Super Duty pickup truck at the site, driven by Ryan Prescott, 35, of Manchester, struck a worker while reversing. The worker was identified as Everett Martin, 65, of Tilton. State Police said life-saving measures were attempted by emergency responders, but Martin died from injuries sustained in the collision. Police said his family has been notified.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Dover Fire Department, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). One lane of Route 16 northbound was shut down for more than three hours during the investigation, and all lanes have since reopened.
No charges have been filed at this time. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Philip Sheehy at Philip.J.Sheehy@dos.nh.gov.
