Wilton Fire crews responded to a high-flow fuel alarm at Academy Hill School on Saturday, thoroughly checking the building before determining with school maintenance that the alarm was faulty.

According to the release, Chief Sonny Dunham responded, with Ladder 7 arriving first (Senior Captain George Guptil driving, Captain Justin Lowe and FF/AEMT Ellie Adams). Tanker One, staffed by Lieutenant Cody Blodgett, followed. With nothing showing from the outside, crews entered and searched classrooms, utility rooms, the boiler room, and the oil tank storage room while actively metering for any trace of gas. No findings were reported, and Academy Hill’s maintenance personnel met with command and deemed the alarm faulty. Wilton Fire cleared shortly thereafter.

The department noted that even false alarms require full investigation to verify system status and prevent escalation, and highlighted the role of sprinklers and alarm companies in notifying changes promptly.
